{{helpme}} There is an existing Wikipedia article about the Hungarian writer, Magda Szabó (recently deceased).

Untitled[edit]

I would like to create an article about a Magda Szabo (notice, there is no accent on the o). This artist is still alive and she paints miniature paintings. She is an accomplished person, a member of the Hilliard Society of England and the Miniature Art Society of Florida. This would obviously be done with her written permission, if I can acquire it. If possible, I would like to have a few .jpg images of her paintings included together with a short biographical note.

My questions are as follows: 1) Is there any restriction on creating an article about a person still alive? 2) If doing this does not violate any Wikipedia practices, how do I start creating this article, step-by-step? 3) Does a stub need to be created? 4) Does the spelling of the last name Szabo conflict with the other Szabó? Is this an example of disambiguation? 5) Where can I receive your responses in the quickest way?

Any help clarifying the above will be greatly appreciated? Thanks, Andrew Ernyes. Aernyes (talk) 03:39, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1) There's no rule against it, if that's what you mean (we'd be a pretty poor encyclopedia if there was). Such an article would have to adhere to all relevant Wikipedia policies, in particular our policies on notability (Szabo would have to be important enough to merit and article) and biographies of living persons, which basically says that we have to be more careful with living people's articles, for obvious reasons. There is no need to have Ms Szabo's permission for such an article, though it can't hurt.
2) Creating this article is slightly different from normal articles, since we already have an 'article' titled 'Magda Szabo', but all it contains is a redirect to Magda Szabó. You'll have to go here, edit that article, and replace the redirect code with your own text. For how to actually write the article, we have all sorts of pages of advice, some of which are linked to from Help:Contents. Personally, I dislike reading tutorials and find the easiest way to learn wiki markup is to find a page that contains the effect I want and click the edit button to find out how it was produced.
3) A stub is (essentially) just a short article that does not provide full coverage of its subject. Thus if (as is likely) your article starts out short, it will be a stub, and someone should add an appropriate tag, such as {{painter-stub}} to mark it as such.
4) The accent will mean there is no technical conflict between the two, but there remains of course the possibility of human confusion. Thus it would be a good idea to put a short message at the top of both articles informing the reader of the existence of the other, similar to that at the start of Tony Hawk for example.
5) If you have more questions, you can ask them at my talk page (linked in my signature), at the help desk or by placing {{helpme}} on your talk page with your question.

Hello from Andrew Ernyes My article on Magda Szabo, the Miniaturist artist has been flagged as lacking inline citations. I had to resort to the existing external links because so far no Wikipedia articles exist on Miniature Art societies, such as the famous Hilliard Society of Miniaturists of England, or the Florida Miniature Art Society. Please advise me how to go about resolving this issue. Thanks Andrew Ernyes Aernyes (talk) 02:17, 20 July 2010 (UTC) {{helpme}}[reply]

I will answer this over on your own user talk page. Moving it there now.  Chzz  ►  01:20, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
