I removed the line which stated Magnetawan is an Ojibway word mean "long open channel" as there was no references cited for this. I did however find a reference saying that Magnetawan means "swiftly flowing water" and put this in its place along with the reference to the municipality of magnetawan which states this as the meaning. It seems more likely that meaning is "swiftly flowing water" if the municipality states it as so as one would expect the municipality and village to know the meaning and history of their own community. However I am know very little about hte Ojibway language if anyone can find a reference which states it also means "long open channel" i see no reason why it couldn't be put back up as well. It seems possible to me that the word could have multiple means as this river has both a long open channel and lots of swiftly flowing water. -- Magnetawan (talk) 12:52, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
