Message to Bureaucrats

[edit]

I have posted this message on the talk pages of all the current bureacrats:

Quote:
I am seeking your guidance and advice on a particular issue. Mahuri page on wikipedia was initiated by me, and I have contributed to the page from time to time. As per policy of the wikipedia anyone can use the contents of wikipedia, but I understand that use of such contents should indicate the source, that is, the wikipedia. The contents of the page Mahuri have been used in the site mahurivaisya without giving any reference to wikipedia - though I am glad that they have used our contents. In this case, a problem may arise at a future date if that website takes a stand that the contents of page Mahuri on wikipedia have been copied from that site and thus violates copyrights. In an alternative scenario, a user here may tag our Mahuri page with copyright violation under the impression that our contents have been copied from that site, reference to which was given by me long back as an external link when that site was not active and having only a welcome page. Although I am not aware of any such issue, which wikipedians may have encountered in the past, I believe that such a situation may have arisen earlier too. I seek your advice and guidance to deal with this issue, which you are requested to please post on my talk page. I also utilize this opportunity to say Hello to you. Thanks.

Be it notified that the contents of the page Mahuri have been used in some section/s of the site mahurivaisya without giving any reference to wikipedia - though I am glad that they have used our contents! By the way, I myself belong to Mahuri jati of India; and have also initiated a yahoo group (closed one) named Mahuri where membership is by invitation only. --Bhadani 14:27, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A message posted by me today on Wikipedia:Mirrors and forks/Mno

Quote:
A website named www.mahurivaisya.com has used the contents of our page named Mahuri without any reference to wikipedia. All sections of that site is not active as yet, and our contents find place in their opening page. In this connection, I have placed a suitable notice on the talk page of Mahuri, and have posted a request on the talk pages of all the current active bureacrats for guidance to deal with the issue. I thank them for the quickest possible response recieved from them. Danny has informed me by a message on my talk page that "Thank you so much for pointing that out to me. I will look into it and contact the website today". Warofdreams suggested to post a message here, and Angela advised me to send the site a Standard GFDL violation letter, which I may do if necessary within few days. I thank all of them, as also all others who may comment on this issue, as it is necessary to protect the work of wikipedians, and though I welcome such use of our contents, the credit should always go to wikipedia; and any use of the contributions of the wikipedians, without conforming to our policies is not acceptable. Thanks.

Further contents

[edit]

I am in the process of translating a book written in Hindi into English, and the book under translation is named Mahuri Jati Ka Itihash (that is, the History of the Mahuri Caste). Moreover, I am also writing a book proposed to named Mahuri: Mythology, Myths and History. The contents which I have so far added here is a very small portion of the materials which I have about the Mahuris. A website named www.mahuri.com is owned by my family members. and that shall be actived at an appropriate time. I shall continue to add further contents to this page from time to time. Other users are also requested to contribute. Thanks. --Bhadani 10:03, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
