Fire String/Fire Stirring[edit]

I did manage to find that the official spelling in the supplementary material is Fire Stirring, though the kanji on the site used still reads "silk ribbon attached as a seal" which is usually translated as "string". I'm not going to argue with Sunrise's official English translations, but to prevent further confusion a link to the source would be appreciated with future edits. Said source is located here. I'd think it would be best to leave out but was misspelt on screen as "Fire Stirring Ruby" as that would confusing when it is put next to Fire Stirring Ruby. Either that, or you reword it to look less confusing. Aside from that, kanji can change meanings depending on how they are read (e.g 玉 can mean jewel or king(Shogi piece) when read "gyoku" but can also mean ball when read "tama"). --Robtf 22:34, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think we're going to leave that out for the time being. I think the confusion came from the kanji used and translations that were out before the official material was out. Every translation I saw for the anime used "String" as it makes the best sense in context, and I'm not aware of any alternate readings for that kanji. This debate was sparked by the very part you mentioned. Katsuhagi 22:36, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You must have not seen the translations I've seen, as they opted to use "Fire Stirring" as soon as it popped up on screen. I'm not going to mention which, as it's illegal material. --Robtf 22:40, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I guess not, I saw at least two "strings" but given Sunrise's tendency to mess up English (just look at English notes in various Gundam series) it must have been assumed to be a typo combined with the used kanji. Well, now it's fixed and that's what counts. Katsuhagi 22:44, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I did a check. Shizuru and Natsuki's GEMs don't have names that match the kanji as well.
嬌 and 嫣 means "attractive" and "beauty" respectively, but somehow came out as "Bewitching Smile", which has very little connection.
氷 and 雪 mean "ice" and "snow" respective, it just came up as simply "Ice". 銀水晶 should be Quartz, but got split into it's components and came up as "Silver Crystal". --Robtf 01:50, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think translating "ginzuishou" as "Silver Crystal" was a nod to Sailor Moon. - Sikon 12:51, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mai Tokiha's Role in My-Hime/My-Otome[edit]

In my view, Mai is a very capable leader and kind person, and she always plays a great Onee-Sama to Mikoto and Arika respectively in My-Hime/My-Otome. She's a fighter alone, but she also can support her friends whenever necessary. I espeicially love her goofy and funny expressions when she makes mistakes; it really mkae me laugh! Ha Ha Ha! Category:Fictional princesses?[edit]

Why so? Just because "HiME" is a pun on "hime"? But she never was a princess in either series. - Sikon 16:49, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

She's a princess in My-Otome, the elder sister of Prince Takumi. Phony Saint 16:57, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

File:HiME MaiSchU0001.jpeg Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:HiME MaiSchU0001.jpeg, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: Wikipedia files with no non-free use rationale as of 3 December 2011

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review
