Page move[edit]

I moved the page to Yaya Dub, as per WP:NCP and WP:COMMONNAME, it is the name most often used in most reliable sources, Mendoza appears to be in auxiliary to reveal her name in real life. Chihciboy (talk) 15:58, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I moved the page back to Maine Mendoza because "Yaya Dub" is a character name. It is neither a screen name or her real name. -Jojit (talk) 09:37, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I moved it again to Yaya Dub because it is her screenname. The term Yaya Dub was used before the KalyeSerye segment meaning that it is her screenname because it was derived from the application Dubsmash that made her popular and the management just used her screenname as her character name in the segment because it is where she is popular. –Angelo6397 T A L K! 11:33, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Even the current article title is her character name, it is still the most notable name of her (WP:COMMONAME) because it is the name used in almost all of the sources regarding the subject. It is also the only character she portrayed and the only one where she got popular. The name was also used before she portrayed it and it is considered as her screenname. Wally Bayola got notable before he portrayed his current character Lola Nidora unlike Yaya Dub who recently rose to fame. He also portrayed a number of characters including his most notable name Wally Bayola; considering that Wally Bayola is Walter James Bayola. So that proves that in some cases the character is named after the one who portrays it. –Angelo6397 T A L K! 13:47, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit remove of Maine Mendoza[edit]

Hi i am MarkHerson that i create a wiki page, that recent edit will move. Please be sure that her screen name is correctly by showbiz and social medias, that the first she knowing for her name as Yaya Dub and her screen name is Maine Mendoza that is a reason of war recent. Please correctly the truth of this article thans againMarkHerson (talk) 09:48, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MarkHerson, thanks for your edits. The page was moved because the name "Yaya Dub" is Maine Mendoza's character and not her screen name. For example, we are not using Lola NiDora or Dr. Dora the Explorer for Wally Bayola because those are character names that he plays. I hope that you understand what I'm saying. -Jojit (talk) 13:08, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's ok i undestand this article before she appearing in Juan for All, All for Juan in Eat Bulaga! knowned for Yaya Dub and her currently named is Maine Mendoza thank you for remind meMarkHerson (talk) 04:05, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Maine MendozaYaya Dub – More notable name of her. – –Angelo6397 T A L K! 13:36, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink).  Philg88 talk 15:56, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment The above is an unlikely request, since there is already a full article at Yaya Dub, which would have to be deleted to move this article there. See below for better options. --MelanieN (talk) 17:01, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

About the two articles, Maine Mendoza and Yaya Dub[edit]

Currently there are two articles, Maine Mendoza and Yaya Dub. Both are, or were, fully developed articles. There has been edit warring to keep one and make the other into a redirect. There have also been suggestions to move one to the other, or to combine them into a single article with a history merge. This is the place to discuss what to do. Please choose among the following options: 1) Keep both as full articles. 2) Keep Yaya Dub and make Maine Mendoza into a redirect (possibly after a history merge). 3) Keep Maine Mendoza and make Yaya Dub into a redirect (possibly after a history merge). --MelanieN (talk) 17:01, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Update: Never mind. The content of both articles has been moved to Yaya Dub, with a history merge. --MelanieN (talk) 23:03, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Keep Yaya Dub: Per WP:Commonname and WP:NCPAngelo6397 T A L K! 11:58, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yaya Dub is the fictional character she plays. Commonname doesn't apply. Bgwhite (talk) 06:38, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yaya Dub or Maine?[edit]

The article must name it Maine Mendoza because the name Yaya Dub is just her role at kalyeserye. Chandelia16 (talk) 05:09, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Moved the page to Maine Mendoza as this is about Mendoza and the the character she plays. We didn't have Miley Cyrus' article named Hannah Montana. Bgwhite (talk) 06:37, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 11 November 2015[edit]

Please change the pending awards for Push Awards. Maine won three awards such as Push Play Best Newcomer, Awesome Lip Sync Performance and Push Elite Newcomer of the Year. It will help the page as updated as we want. Thanks.

It was already changed by RafaelPPascual. --Jojit (talk) 02:41, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion[edit]

Can I remove the Reception section on the article? Reception is only used for television and film articles in Wikipedia and not on Biographies. I also want to rename the Early life section to Personal life and move the hacking incident in there, and the part regarding her increase in Twitter followers will be placed in the Career section. EddieWow (talk) 06:19, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agent[edit]

GMA Artist Center is a part of Tape Inc. so Maine is a former talent of GMA Artist Center Co-managed by TAPE Inc. see the article of GMA Artist Center and click the former talent of artist and its alphatically last name, this is for more info. Kaponohillen (talk) 08:16, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

According to Maine's ask.fm and to the November 2015 issue of Yes! mag, Maine is not a member of the GMA Artist Center. Her career is managed by Triple A, the talent management arm of Tony Tuviera, an executive of TAPE who produces Eat Bulaga! These facts with reliable sources are included in the article. I hope that this clear things up. --Jojit (talk) 03:08, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Kaponohillen, I reverted your recent edits because just like I said, Maine is not a GMA Artist Center contractual talent. She stated this on her ask.fm account. As what I indicated in the source, Maine's career is being managed by Triple A as stated in page 74 of Yes Magazine November 2015 issue. That reliable source is still relevant and has never been disputed by any other source. Thus, that information should not be removed. Are we clear about this? --Jojit (talk) 06:25, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Guest appearance to other TV Show[edit]

He is also guest in TV show called CelebriTV with Alden Richards, add the list of filmography. Kaponohillen (talk) 08:18, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, TV interviews are not included in a filmography. Although I recently mentioned in one of sections of the article (not under the Filmography section) that Maine was featured in KMJS and CelebriTV. --Jojit (talk) 03:08, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Filmography[edit]

Please add Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho because he is a guest to that show. Kaponohillen (talk) 08:19, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

See my answer on the previous section. --Jojit (talk) 03:08, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Source[edit]

There is no page 74 in the source website, please put the website to prove it, or else I will prove it that Maine is a part of GMA artist.

Thank you, Kapono Hillen Kaponohillen (talk) 06:39, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's a paper magazine and not a website. Buy the Yes! Magazine November 2015 issue and then go to page 94. --Jojit (talk) 02:03, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Add shows?[edit]

The source has been added the new teleserye in 2016 called "God Gave Me U" together with Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza [1] what do you think is the new drama here in soap opera? Oripaypaykim (talk) 12:16, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The source, LionheartTV, is a blog and is not a credible and reliable source. It was reported that GMA-7 is planning to give Mendoza and Richards a show, however, GMA Network is yet to give an official announcement regarding the the show's title and cast members. EddieWow EddieWow (talk) 14:45, 26 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that LionheartTV is not a reliable source. Although, blogs can sometimes be used as a source but with conditions as stated here. An example of this is the Star Values Award given to Maine by DepEd and UMak. Personally, I can't find any sources about that award. A user added that award in Maine's article but the source given comes from a fan site that is normally not reliable. Thus, I inserted a tag questioning the source. I didn't remove the content because it seems authentic even though I can't find a reliable source to back it up. I think that the award is authentic because there are pictures and Twitter posts that can be found in the Internet relating to the award. As for the case of God Gave Me U television series of AlDub, aside from the source being not reliable, I don't find it authentic because there's no confirmation from producers of the show or from the AlDub tandem themselves. It seems speculation and we don't speculate here in Wikipedia. Hope that everyone is enlightened. --Jojit (talk) 01:46, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Awards[edit]

The plethora of awards listed and the issues around it has started to dominate this page. In general, awards need to be notable as well as related to the individual. So if Mendoza has won an award as part of a duo, that is where it belongs. For notability, it needs reliable, third party sources. Please keep this in mind when adding awards. Karst (talk) 09:31, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for trimming these down. Couple awards should be listed at AlDub, and show-based awards (best ensemble, best cast) at Kalyeserye. The awards should also be actual accolades given to her, and not magazine/news year-end rankings (top 100 most beautiful people, 25 influential people) or some writer's personal best actress or superlatives ("best dressed at the Oscars"). And yes, the award should be notable in itself. One-time local awards like "key to the city", "Maine Mendoza day", or honorary degree don't need to be listed in that section but can be raised in the biography section. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:08, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
So what you mean is that the list should only include performance awards? Shouldn't her nominations for PushLike Most Liked Newcomer and PushGram Most Loved Newcomer (PUSH Awards 2015) and 29th PMPC Star Awards for Television (Best New Female TV Personality) be included in the list? Also, will it be OK if I add the other removed awards/entertainment awards (in paragraph form) in the Reception section? EddieWow (talk) 04:06, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Or in the Achievements section? EddieWow (talk) 04:10, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The PUSH awards are kind of tricky as most of the main categories are selected by popular vote. On the other hand, PUSH Elite says "will be determined by a panel of experts" so those have more credibility. PMPC Star Awards have an article so nominations can count for those major awards. "Celebrity of the Night" sounds like "best dressed" so that shouldn't count though. The popularity ones can go in the prose paragraphs. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 04:27, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Achievement section is ok. To add notability in the Awards section they need to be good quality awards, like the ones for the film for instance. "Most Loved Newcomer" is vague and has an air of the promotional. So are any advertising awards, which are generally nothing more then an excuse to publicise the event. Other then that, just stick to the criteria I outlined in the first post. Karst (talk) 07:47, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Kalyeserye, "Kalyeserye" or Kalyeserye[edit]

For consistency in the article, should Kalyeserye (and other show segments) be italicized, in quotation marks, or nothing at all? EddieWow (talk) 05:12, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well, since "Kalyeserye" is a television segment, it should be enclosed in double quotation marks instead of italicized as per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Titles#Minor works. --Jojit (talk) 06:49, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'd treat it as its own show and use Italics as with Weekend Update and Sprockets (Saturday Night Live) since it has its own episode titles such as "First Weeksary" which would be in quotes. (sorry, the day number is just the episode number, doesn't need quotes) It's like a show within a show. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 14:03, 17 March 2016 (UTC) update 16:37, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Name lede[edit]

Her name in the lede should go like this in accordance with MOS:BIRTHNAME: Nicomaine Dei "Maine" Capili Mendoza, since her Maine was simply a portion of her first name and not in the least her stage name. If it were a stage name, then she would've preferred to be called something else other than a derivative of her first name. matieszyn (talk) 14:56, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree but with the Spanish naming convention is is not clear that Mendoza is her chosen surname. See Spanish naming customs. Karst (talk) 15:08, 26 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
