Recent changes

[edit]

There have been multiple changes on this article over the last few weeks or months and it appears that there are some differences between users in terms of editing. A user left a message on my talkpage regarding the same too. I would request any controversial changes being discussed here first as this is a biography and must adhere to rules on BLP. This goes for User Schollar and the rest who are editing this article. Algebraical (talk) 13:09, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a time frame as to how long uncited information should remain with the "citation needed" tag on it? Schollar (talk) 13:54, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Persistent Vandalism

[edit]

There seem to be a number of persistent reverts which constitute borderline/actual vandalism. My edits, which were intended to clean up the article, and to conform the article to BLP and NPOV, are being reverted. The issues are:

  • In the introduction, the edits/reverts persistently add the fact that "he has been involved in a dispute with the institute". This fact has been covered in later paragraphs, and is getting undue and unacceptable emphasis in the introductory paragraph.
  • In the section on 'Politics', the content from the references are being misrepresented, or being given undue importance. For instance,
    • The article on the Nehru Gandhi family didn't mention anything about ousting Narendra Modi.
    • The article on Priyanka Gandhi never 'pre-empted' her victory.
    • The 'right wing criticism' seems to constitute of a single article from another academic, and does not seem to be important enough to get a mention.
  • The section on 'Works' was expanded by me to include a summary of his work, but the persistent editors remove it, and replace it with a summary of one novel (Body Offering), to paint the person in a negative light.
  • All recent changes are from IP addressses, or users with contributions to <5 articles

Points noted. But why does adding a summary of one novel (Body Offering) paint the person in a negative light? Schollar (talk) 16:15, 27 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am asking because I noticed that the summary is removed, but I don't see anything negative about that summary, even if it was original research. Can a summary be added from one of the book's reviews? Schollar (talk) 16:17, 27 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is being given too much weight. Either include summaries of all works, or none. Or add a reference showing that it was his magnum opus, and other works were insignificant. This was being discussed at the BLP notice board, please discuss there. Ranban282 (talk) 15:55, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

More persistent vandalism

[edit]

Prof Paranjpe had complained on twitter about his page being vandalized, hence my attempt to watch and improve this page. Essentially, the issue remains the same as what I raised in July, namely

  • Unreferenced information and original research
  • Misrepresentation of references
  • Disproportionate weight being given to certain topics, with a clear aim of showing the subject in a negative light.
  • Good faith edits to clean up article are being reverted, usually without specifying reasons, and with sarcastic comments.
  • Changes being done by unregistered or newly registered users with no other contributions or no meaningful contributions.

These matters were discussed in July 2021 at Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard. The conclusion was that the 'dispute with the institute' and 'Body offering' was being given too much weight, and that unreferenced material was present. This [1] a link to the discussion in July 2021.

In case you believe there is a good reason for the article to be written in the way its being done, please discuss it at the notice board. Until then, all changes which do not conform to that will be treated as vandalism, and will be reverted. Ranban282 (talk) 07:31, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Following the closure today of WP:Sockpuppet investigations/Algebraical, please roll back the flurry of sockpuppet additions to the last non-sock edit by User:RegentsPark, 3 May 2023. Thanks. 2A00:23EE:1378:308E:9CB2:F11D:BA63:10E8 (talk) 12:28, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Done, was planning to get to this later anyway. Not just because they were socks, but also because of poor sourcing and poor source-text integrity. DanCherek (talk) 12:32, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
