I've been told this game has ties to the Megami Tensei series. Can anybody confirm or disprove this? 172.149.93.211 04:41, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Maken X.jpg[edit]

Image:Maken X.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:45, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First person slasher's are rare?[edit]

Isn't The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion a "first-person slasher"? --AnY555! (talk) 03:33, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • First-person isn't a genre, so it shouldn't be listed in the infobox
  • the chaos is being caused by the Sangokai, a powerful criminal syndicate opposed by the Blademasters - should mention who are the Blademasters briefly in the lead as well.
  • Just some personal opinion, but I think that the second paragraph of the lead introduces too many characters. It would be great if you can trim some of the content away and make it more precise.
  • It was the first game developed by Atlus to feature fill voice acting - full voice acting.
  • The game sold well in Japan, and was met with mixed to positive reviews worldwide. - can expand slightly on what critics liked and disliked.
  • The world map is divided into a variety of stages including main story missions, zones holding new playable characters, and levels involving key non-playable characters. - I am not sure if I understand what this means. The world maps are divided into two zones and there are three types of missions that players can do?
  • If the player character's health is fully depleted, the game ends. - would be great if you can mention why player character's health will deplete. What are you even fighting in this game?
  • During combat, the player has standard movement options - what are "standard movement options"? Different people may have different interpretation on this phrase.
  • The player character, who can lock onto enemies during combat, has a standard attack option activated by a button press, with combination attacks achieved through multiple button presses. - can you rephrase this sentence so that it doesn't mention anything about pressing buttons?
  • Generally need some more wikilinking to avoid WP:JARGON.
  • Just to ensure I understand the Brainjack ability correctly. Do this mean it is similar to Dishonored where you can possess anyone NPC you want? Or just some selectable characters?
  • Given the default name "Deus Ex Machina" - should wikilink Deus Ex Machina.
  • Level designer Kazuyuki Yamai and character motion and modeller Eiji Ishida would both work on later prominent Atlus titles. - What happened after the game's development is not important.
  • I don't think introducing all members of the development team is necessary, with the exception of the important ones like director, producer, and artist, or those who were later mentioned again in the development section.
  • Due to these factors, the trial and error period lasted much longer than intended. -What is a trial and error period. Game testing? QA?
  • While the basic gameplay and the original plot were carried over, several adjustments were made including more full-motion CGI sequences and refined gameplay mechanics. - mentioned already in the gameplay section. Don't need to repeat it once more.
  • The music section was impressive. I can never write a good music section, for some reason.
  • the game's graphics were altered for the international release - any more specifications? How it was altered?
  • It came with both standard and limited editions - What are their differences?
  • The remake Maken Shao received a similar score from Famitsu, which praised the overall gameplay and varied character choice - odd to say "similar score". Would be great if you can mention what the score is.
  • Coward praised the "slick and glitch-free" environments - should wikilink glitches.
  • Would be great if you can mention these reviewers' overall impression on the game. Whether they recommend it, think that it was style over substance, or anything similar.
  • File:Maken X screenshot.png doesn't show combat, so you need to modify the caption or find another screenshot.
GA Criteria per WP:WIAGA
1 Well-written
1a the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct
1b it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation
2 Verifiable with no original research
2a it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline
2b reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose)
2c it contains no original research
2d it contains no copyright violations or plagiarism
3 Broad in its coverage
3a it addresses the main aspects of the topic
3b it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style)
4 Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each
5 Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute
6 Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio
6a media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content
6b media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions
Cmt The article looks impressive. Every section looks fine, and my major complaint is that you need to wikilink most of the jargon terms. There were some minor things that need to be clarified though.
@AdrianGamer: Done my best to address everything. I've rewritten the story section of the lead, adjusted the image caption (chose the above image because most of the others showed a malformed tongue and I wanted to keep the article accessible to a wide audience - or they had a watermark), done my best to simplify the use of gameplay terminology in that section, addressed the and expanded the reception section a little. I've also done some tidying. --ProtoDrake (talk) 08:49, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@ProtoDrake: - Would be great if the gameplay section can mention more on enemies. It mentions that players fight stuff, but didn't mention what enemies they will encounter. AdrianGamer (talk) 09:02, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@AdrianGamer: Added it. Hope it's sufficient. I'd rather not get into cruff territory. --ProtoDrake (talk) 09:17, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That will be sufficient. Maken X is now a . Congratulations! AdrianGamer (talk) 09:20, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
