The era of Hazrat Makhdum Ali Faquih rehmatullahi alaih falls in between the eight century of Hijra(t). This period is called the golden period of Arts and Sciences. Writing and compiling of books, criticism and commentaries and intellectual culturization and other activities got fillip during this era. Rarely, its parallel can be got in the past centuries, before it. The unparallel religious leaders (Imams) of this era and the masters of arts and sciences were born during this era. And precious and rare books of commentaries of the Holy Quran, the Traditions, Theology. History and Philosophy were written in this period. This is the very era when Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq, the nephew of Ghayasuddin Tughlaq was throned in Delhi. The period of Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq is known in the history of India for the peace and progress and care taking of the subject. In his period of rule, in the fields of art and literature, a great progress was achieved. More attention was given to the theological knowledge and popularization of the Shariat, the Islamic Jurisprudence.

Mahaim the village situated in the state of Maharashtra and which was in the State of Gujrat before that, has a unique place of pride, as per Bombay Gazette, that the fore-fathers of Hazrat Makhdum Ali rehmatullahi alaih, most probably arrived to Mahim. In those days. Mahim was called Mahaim. It was almost non-habitated and desolate land. There were no other inhabitants there except the local fishermen,. Hazrat Makhdum rehmatullahi alaih comes of a Nawait Family. The historians are of the opinion that technically this family (tribe) was of Arab origin and it had migrated to India from Hijaz (In Saudi Arabia). These people came to India and they made the western coastal area of India their abode.

In this very Mahaim, on the date of 10th Muharram 776 Hijra, According to C.E. in 1372 (A.D.), Hazrat Makhdum Ali Faquih Mahaimi rehmatullahi alaih was graced with his auspicious birth in one of the prestigeous and honourable family of Nawaits.
