Perhaps some mention of the political significance of Maltese bread would enhance this article? For example the Sette Giugno riots were triggered in part by the rising cost of bread, and the industrial action by unionised bakers in the 1970s led to some controversy about the Constitutional protection of the freedom from forced labour when the bakers refused to bake hobza tal-Malti and the government declared an emergency. I know that just this year the price of traditional bread increased again and there were (peaceful) demonstrations against the Government in Valletta. This bread seems to have some significant symbolic value within Maltese culture, and perhaps this could be mentioned in the article by someone with greater knowledge than myself. Just a thought! Have attempted to start to address this with a section on the role of bread in Maltese politics but it can definitely be expanded upon! Beckettnoti (talk) 19:22, 20 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request Banner be Removed[edit]

I added some citations and request the banner (template Ref improve) be removed. The craft of making the bread is nearly extinct and it is unlikely more citations will be available.StarJupiter (talk) 18:53, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
