There is a better color photo of him boarding the Missouri which could be cropped: File:Missouri-japanese-delegation.jpg

I have included it without cropping (don't have access to Photoshop right now) though it would improve the image if this were to be done. Armeria 18:46, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Having a rethink: the broader view of the ship, with guns and servicemen, may add important context. The detail of figures, including Shigemitsu, can be readily seen if the thumbnail is clicked. Armeria 19:12, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

The following passage, of 18:46, 22 November 2006 Moquette, was removed because a) it is principally concerned with material already given verbatim elsewhere on en:wikipedia (see: L._Moore_Cosgrave); b) it comes from private, unverifiable, original testimony of a conversation between two family members (there is no other external reference to be found); and c) it skews the encyclopedic nature of the article:

"L. Moore Cosgrave (Signatory for Dominion of Canada, accepting the Japanese Surrender) knew Mamoru Shigemitsu from their diplomatic days in Shanghai, their eyes crossed when Mamoru Shigemitsu boarded the Missouri, they mutually smiled with recognition, and then Mamoru Shigemitsu realized where he was and became stern & serious. They met each other again many years later in London U.K., at the Coronation of Elizabeth II, 1953. (recited by Col. Lawrence Moore Cosgrave DSO, to his Grandson Lawrence H. Moquette)." Age[edit]

Was he age 69 at death or 75? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.103.33.135 (talk) 04:43, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
User:Mandsford changed the article subject's birth date from 1887 to 1881 in Wikipedia on 23 November 2007 without providing a source in the edit summary. http://ww2db.com/person_bio.php?person_id=284 & http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0793351/ agree on the 29 Jul 1887 birth date but disagree on the death date: ww2db.com says 27 Jun 1957; imdb.com says 26 January 1957. More research is therefore needed to verify the death date. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.103.33.135 (talk) 04:06, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
