Cleanup needed?

[edit]

This page is started in response to a tag that states that Steyr Mannlicher M1894 entry needs cleanup.

How does this page need cleaning up?

The page has two places where it specifically refers to pictures on a page in a certain book; 'General Features', paragraph 3- "as shown in the drawing from page 188" and 'Models', paragraph one- "displayed in the photo illustrations on this page". It makes it quite clear that this was extracted from a book, possibly en masse as the article has a similar tone through- except for the introduction. I am not sure what process needs to be followed but I suspect that copying whole articles from elsewhere is at least considered poor form, more likely it is plagiarism and/or violating copyright. I doubt fair use applies in this instance!

It is also excruciatingly detailed, especially under the 'Firing mechanism' section. For example- " As the hammer rotates on its axis pin, it acts upon the trigger, and the sear snaps into the cocking notch, holding the hammer. The hammer axis pin also supports the center arm of the barrel holding lever, which arm emerges and is raised high enough by its spring to press into a slot under the barrel." Holy hell, that is dry, super technical and useless to anyone except an experienced gunsmith who is repairing one of these pistols. Stefanzi (talk) 14:15, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stripper clip

[edit]

And which is it, five or six shot stripper clips? It says both in the article. It appears to be five in the pictures. I also agree that the detailed description of the functioning is almost unreadable, and serves little practical purpose. It's impossible to understand whats being described without sufficient visuals to go with the complex description, and the only really salient feature of the gun is that it's blow-forward..45Colt 22:05, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
