Mantra Shastra is a science deal with the effect of sounds. All mantras were sounds only. For reading convenience one can write the sounds in any language, but should pronounce correctly. Mantra sastra scholar should learn the pronunciation and pitch of the sound and its grammar correctly from guru (teacher) in order to get the results. In order to get the right concentration in mantra, one should do japa of that mantra. aum is called maha mantra. (greatest of all mantras). The use of the aum japa is given in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (Sutras number 1.27-1.30) http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/yogasutr.htm (Bulususastry (talk) 13:58, 19 April 2009 (UTC)).[reply]
