Proposing merge from species Marburg marburgvirus to monotypic genus Marburgvirus[edit]

To merge Marburg marburgvirus into Marburgvirus, the latter being preferred as a common name. Klbrain (talk) 06:27, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Merge - The species article Marburg marburgvirus and the monotypic genus article Marburgvirus are sizable but share much of the same content. Not sure if WP:MONOTYPICFLORA trumps WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA but Marburgvirus is probably the more well-known term. --Nessie (talk) 16:10, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also Marburg virus - There also is Marburg virus, which theoretically could be the member virus of Marburg marburgvirus, but the article is not clear which rank it concerns. Marburg marburgvirus is not a monotypic species, however, as it also contains Ravn virus. I think Marburg virus could be made into an article for the member virus, but it would take some major disentangling. --Nessie (talk) 03:25, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I support the merger of Marburg marburgvirus with Marburgvirus, but oppose the additional merging of Marburg virus into this. Marburg virus (MARV) seems to be distinct from Ravn virus {RAVV}, both being included in Marburg marburgvirus, and each should have its own page. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:51, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
