Ambiguities[edit]

A certain newspaper excluded de before Marcela's surname. It's Marcela Mariño Agoncillo and not Marcela Mariño de Agoncillo. --βritand&βeyonce (talkcontribs) 11:32, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why[edit]

Was my writing bias? If so, please point line(s) where biases are stated. Thank you. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs) 12:31, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed a bit where the POVs are. User:Neelix said that the Japanese thing was the cause so I modified some terms to a better one (I hope so). I added source but its not really a reliable source since its from Geocities. Thank you. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs) 03:07, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't specifically referring to the reference to Japanese soldiers when I placed the NPOV tag (I agree that many of their actions were cruel, but we can't write that in the article). Sorry for interfering with your nomination. It is good that you cite things such as "As a loyal companion on her behalf, Marcela was also a loving mother that she always taught her family and kins with good values." However, it is not enough to simply cite those claims, because they do represent value judgments. It would be better to say, "According to [Source XYZ]..." in those cases. There are other cases of such claims that aren't cited, e.g., "she raised her daughters to be fine ladies" and "she consistently provided her daughters with words of wisdom". It is clear that you like Ms. Agoncillo, but it is enough to let the facts speak for themselves. If you'd like to remove the NPOV tag, that's okay, but I think you will get similar feedback from the GA reviewers. You have done a good job with your research here; good luck in improving the article further. Dekimasuよ! 03:21, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have a source but I think it wont work. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs) 03:30, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I will not remove the tag until someone says it's resolved. Better someone will remove that ready for reassessment. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs) 03:37, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is in a more NPOV now. However, the article could use some extra book references and a Wikipedia:Peer review prior to GA nomination. --Lenticel (talk) 00:32, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I wish the library of our school is complete. I would not hesitate to go their and use a lot of books to cite especially those articles which were not referenced yet. I will try to find later but I have no assurance. Maybe online sourcing is the only way. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs)00:46, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA Assessment[edit]

This article was quick-failed for containing the NPOV tag. You may renominate once the issue has been resolved. Ɛƚƈơƅƅơƚɑ talk 00:08, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reassessment[edit]

Since the POV tag was removed, I will nominate this for GAR. --βritand&βeyonce (talkcontribs) 05:59, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the POV tag is that all discussion about the issue pointed to resolved, but no one removed the tag yet. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 06:02, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, thank you. I can move forward now. --βritand&βeyonce (talkcontribs) 06:18, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your welcome. If you wondered, I followed my way to this article by editing the article on the Philippines flag. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 06:24, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, ok. --βritand&βeyonce (talkcontribs) 06:44, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Space for one more picture?[edit]

During a recent visit at Malacanang Museum, I snapped a photo of the thimble used by Agoncillo when she sewed the first Philippine flag. I'd like to add it to the article, but I'm not sure if that's a feasible idea since there are a lot of photos already in the article. Would adding the photo be advisable? -- Anyo Niminus (talk) 15:41, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's better. just add it in the article and lets see what is the effect. BritandBeyonce (talk) 09:50, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for delayed reply, I'll do that now. Feel free to edit or reorganize accordingly. Anyo Niminus (talk) 13:28, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think the placement of the image is reasonable since the section above it is already crowded. I just fixed some little stuff. Feel free also to revert if it doesn't fit. Nice work. --BritandBeyonce (talk) 05:39, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA on hold[edit]

  • Marcela needs to be replaced with Agoncillo, imho.
    • checkY Done.
  • "was remarkably skilled " pov?
    • checkY Removed “remarkably”. This was edited before so I presumed its fine.
  • There seems to be a 10 year gap between her high schooling and then her marriage
    • checkY Not well-documented part of life. Don’t worry. I’ll try to find books chronicling this.
  • "They spoke both English and Spanish. Most of her daughters became teachers. " These points need expanding, they are very short and do not flow well with the text.
    • checkY Remove the English and Spanish and French thing.
  • The lifestyle anecdotes would appear to tip NPOV in my opinion and the short standalone sentences need to be better integrated.
    • checkY All removed. I just realized this is not encyclopedic. Kinda trivia.
  • Transition to HK needs to be explained in terms of the polotical background to the circumstances of the move.
    • checkY Done.
  • "Words of Wisdom" is most definietly a POV title.
    • checkY Completely removed.

Inconsistency[edit]

I am not sure to understand the two following sentences: "she quietly died in Manila at the age of 86. Her mortal remains were brought from Taal to Manila."

If she died in Manilla, why her remains were "brought from Taal to Manila"? Binabik (talk) 09:34, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
