Prayers preventing the detonation?

[edit]

"Despite the Sakhi shrine being a focus of the prayers that occur in Kabul during Nowruz, the bomber was still able to detonate his explosives.[9]"

Is that really what is meant? Despite the focused praying, the bomber was able to detonate his explosives? Not WP-appropriate IMHO. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.140.233.217 (talk) 15:35, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It means that despite it being a frequented shrine on the occassion, the bomber was able to detonate the bomb. --QEDK () 19:46, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to remove this statement and rewrite it entirely if that hasn't been done already. Even if it were to be rewritten and state something along the lines of "despite it being frequented on the occasion, the bomber was able to detonate his explosive" that would only state the obvious. Instead, the statement should be about the significance of the bomb being detonated at a frequently visited location, not the supposed unlikeliness of it. The part about focused praying is irrelevant and should not be kept. BrendonTheWizard (talk) 21:43, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Done Changed to The attack took place at the Sakhi shrine, a frequented location during the occasion. BrendonTheWizard (talk) 21:48, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
