Relegation to secondary championship

[edit]

The ACBL website states that the Marcus Cup was relegated to secondary championship status after 1967. What was the reasoning? Newwhist (talk) 16:00, 13 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Discontinuance

[edit]

The Official Encyclopedia of Bridge (fourth edition) states on page 267 that event was contested "until 1978 at the Summer North American Championships...." This is restated in Appendix 1 on page 796 of the same edition, and yet on that page it gives names for winners for up to and including 1981.

There are no main entries for either FABER CUP or MARCUS CUP in the fifth and sixth edition of the OEB and no result tabulations either.

The seventh edition of the OEB has an entry for the MARCUS CUP and lists winners from 1946 to 1967.

The ACBL website gives names of winners from 1946 to 1967 only.

Can anyone reconcile these pieces of information about the post-1967 status of the event? In the interim, I will not make any entries for winners post-1967. Newwhist (talk) 16:00, 13 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
