'Combat history' section

[edit]

It seems that someone has confused the Marder I (fitted with the Pak 40) with the leFH18/4 (Sf.) mounted on the Lorraine Schlepper, which was classed as self-propelled artillery, not a Panzerjäger. Only the first quote after the table refers to the Marder I: "On 14 August 1942, ... Gen.Qu. was requested to include 72 - 7.5cm Pak40 (Marder I) Lorraine on Blitztransport trains", from Panzer Tracts 7-2, p. 7-107.

The remaining quotes refer to the leFH18/4 (Sf.) on Lorraine 37L: The next quote "By Christmas 1942 almost all of Becker’s men had reached Paris, etc." comes from Alfred Becker#Baukommando Becker, complete with incompletely copied WP ref [22]. The 2nd and 3rd paragraphs are based on Panzer Tracts 10, Artillerie Selbstfahrlafetten, p. 10-32 which refers to Artillery Regt. 227. I haven't yet managed to track down all the entries in the table, but I think that several rows need deleting.

Futhermore, none of the cites in this section actually refer to the Marder I's combat history, only its initial deployment. Although Jentz & Doyle do include several pages on its combat history, these don't appear to be mentioned at all. CP Denniss. MinorProphet (talk) 19:06, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
