The tower of Babylon wears Prada?

[edit]

Possible food for the trivia section: just heard on the radio that some international top fashion guru wants to design and build a 260 meter tall skyscraper in Porto Marghera, to top off his carreer before retirement. (Can't find any related info on the net, however.) Me thinks this will not sit well with venexians, since there is an ancient law that says nothing can be taller than the San Marco belltower in the whole Serenissima. Furthermore, airline pilots of the world would be moste grateful for such a skyscraper, considering how close Marco Polo Tessera airport lies to that site. 82.131.129.192 (talk) 11:15, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OK, just found the info from La Stampa. It is the pet plan of int'l fashion caesar Pierre Cardin, who was born in Sant’ Andrea di Barbarana, just 16km from Venice and left for France with family at the age of two. The 244m tall "Palais Lumiere" of 69 stairs and 21 elevators would stand in the Porto Marghera industrial site, taking 4 years and 1,5bn euros to build. Luca Zaia, president of Regione Veneto supports this plan as the Serenissima's Eiffel-tower, since it would create 4500 jobs, including a hotel. Luca and Pierre will go onsite to promote the plan in Venezia very soon. (I suggest they ride the armoured gondola made for the Pope's visit last year considering the likely public outrage...) 82.131.129.192 (talk) 11:26, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
