An editor is extremely attached to this description of her performance. It would seem to me that the words, "in a provoking way" raise more questions than they answer, and do not serve encyclopedic purpose. Who was provoked? Who did the provoking? If you have a better way to say that she went along with a stage director's extreme ideas, go ahead.
