Categories should apply to the whole article[edit]

No person was born more than once. No person should be in more than one birth year Category. For articles on multiple people the joint article should not be in any birth year category, unless all the subjects were born the sane year.John Pack Lambert (talk) 04:28, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

JPL, that's not policy. I'm reverting to the status quo. Mason (talk) 04:39, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • If the above is not policy we have down right horrible policy. Articles just plain should not be placed in categories that label articles as something they are not. Beyond this in this case we had individual redirects for both subjects. So I moved the birth year categories to the individual subjects. This is what is normally done is such cases, at least one the target article lists the year of birth for the redirect.John Pack Lambert (talk) 04:46, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If there were redirects, you should have explained that in the edit when you removed them. You have earned a reputation for removing people from categories for reasons that are inconsistent with consensus. From the edit history it does not look like you did this initially. [1]. You appear to only have done that after I reverted your removal. Mason (talk) 05:06, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Don't remove categories without fully fixing the mess. I'm pretty disappointed that your message implies that you did this before my revert. Mason (talk) 05:10, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
