Josephus genealogy section needs improvement

[edit]

Appears to be original research, has no citations, inconsistently spelled and punctuated. Can someone assist? Epikoros (talk) 21:40, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As a graduate-degreed theologian and Christian historian, I found absolutely nothing of value in the recent (8/2024), anonymously-authored additions about the Josephus genealogy section. Nothing in Josephus merits associating Mary Magdalene with Simeon Boethus--nothing like this is mentioned in Josephus, nor in the Gospel of Philip. It seems to be entirely made up of spurious speculations and is not useful for ongoing understanding of Mariamne II. Any mention of "Mariamne" in the late fourth century "Acts of Philip" refers to the common variation of name Mary and refers explicitly to Mary the sister of Martha and Philip. Simon Boethus is not mentioned, and I see no historical evidence whatsoever that Mariamne II is in any way the same as Mary Magdalene. I reversed the entire edit.
