job title?

[edit]

Is/was she really an "academic"? She was a PhD student at Oxford as evidenced by the link to her thesis. Being an academic would usually be defined as a paid research role in a university such as a postdoc or lecturer. Is there any evidence for her doing this? If not the "academic" role should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.147.31.214 (talk) 09:56, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree it was a dubious claim. MT is pretty high powered academically and has spent a long time researching at OU, but she's never been what Americans call 'faculty'. She probably taught undergraduates freelance while doing her DPhil, but that doesn't really count. She could probably have become an academic if she'd wanted to, but that's not the point. I think she's always had her eye on a career in politics. --Ef80 (talk) 10:35, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
