I'm not sure if this is an autobiography or not, but there appears to be a conflict of interest for the creator/primary editor. See WP:COI & WP:SPAM. --Evb-wiki (talk) 14:32, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is not an autobiography. Please cite specific references within the article where you believe there appears to be some type of conflict and I will work to correct. I am creating this page for a class at Middle Tennessee State University and have no association with Bell, other than knowing he was a successful student here at some time before I started here. WHoWhoOwl (talk) 14:38, 21 May 2009 (UTC) (Jewels)[reply]

That itself may be a conflict. Please read WP:COI. --Evb-wiki (talk) 14:50, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean? The fact that we attended the same university more than 5 years apart? Don't you believe that is a bit of a stretch? Who makes the final decision on these matters? Again, I ask you quote specific sections that show conflict of interest. WHoWhoOwl (talk) 16:08, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is according to Wiki COI policy: "Do not edit Wikipedia to promote your own interests, or those of other individuals or of organizations, including employers, unless you are certain that the interests of Wikipedia remain paramount." I am asking you, in turn, to identify in this article where I am not neutral or where a conflict exists. This article only briefly mentions that Bell is an MTSU graduate and does not promote the school whatsoever. Therefore, the fact that I go to a school where he use to go (and graduated a year before I even began) makes no difference and doesn't affect my ability to be objective. WHoWhoOwl (talk) 16:25, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that you are, as you say above, "creating this page for a class at Middle Tennessee State University" would appear to be for your own interest. And because this class is at an institution that would benefit from have a "notable" alumnus, I fear the objectivity must be questioned. --Evb-wiki (talk) 16:54, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the *Influences* section would appear to be promoting the University, or sucking up. It's also unreferenced, so perhaps removal might be proper. --Evb-wiki (talk) 17:04, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't see this discussion, or I wouldn't have pre-emptively removed the tag. But in my opinion, this person isn't Bell, or a friend or family member of Bell; if there are specific problems in the article, I think they could be fixed without the tag at this point. If consensus is against me, I can live with that until an unambigiously unconnected editor decides to go through it. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:08, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Footnotes

[edit]

Please tell me how to properly cite. I've tried reading the page about citing on Wiki, but find it to be too confusing. Can you give me a common sense way? When I go to edit references it just says "reflist." WHoWhoOwl (talk) 14:38, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:Footnotes#How to use. See also WP:Citation templates. --Evb-wiki (talk) 14:45, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. That helps a lot. WHoWhoOwl (talk) 16:10, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia, intricate details tag

[edit]

If you're going to add this tag back to the page you need to explain why you are adding it and what the problems are so it can be addressed. Please be considerate of users who are not accustomed to all the intricacies of Wiki editing. Thank you. WHoWhoOwl (talk)

While I still have serious doubts about the notability of this person, which aren't dissuaded by your status as a SPA and your apparant conflict (see discussion above), I have consistently sought to improve the encyclopidic content of Wikipedia. Your recent edits are a step in the right direction. What has this guy done recently? --Evb-wiki (talk) 04:14, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
All I know is that he's still working for the newspaper, because I see his name in it everyday. As far as I know, the trial concerning the crash that won him the Malcom Law Award is scheduled to begin in mid-October. WHoWhoOwl (talk) 13:30, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
