Requested move
[edit]- Disagree I think it should stay the way it is. Most sports players with an ambiguous name are like this. See Paul O'Neill (baseball player). --Rogerd 04:29, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
HEAT Predictions
[edit]Shouldn't somebody mention how he predicted EVERY SERIES WRONG for the NBA Champion Miami Heat in the 2006 playoffs? 209.247.22.137 00:56, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Odd middle name
[edit]In a TV interview about 12 years ago, Mark Jackson claimed that Action was his real middle name. Tom Duff 03:46, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
Stats
[edit]I know it shows his career points/assists along the side, but how about a more in depth look at his stats? Most professional athlete pages have a year-by-year breakdown of their stats for each team, as well as postseason stats. Why does he only have 2 generic stat categories? He is one of the best PGs of all time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.212.6.63 (talk) 16:55, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Why does it say Mark Jackson was born in two different places?
[edit]The thing in the upper right hand says he was born in Brooklyn, NY. In the early life tab says he was born in Queens, NY. I'm not sure which it is, but it's kind of embarrassing to say two different things so close to each other. I'm not sure which it is, but at least go with one. TomNyj0127 (talk)
I don't know. I don't know why the 1st, seemingly uneditable paragraph reads "Jackson currently works as a commentator for ESPN and ABC alongside his former coach Jeff Van Gundy and play-by-play man Mike Breen. He was previously an NBA analyst for The YES Network's New Jersey Nets games." Since he was actually traded during Pat Riley's tenure, the author should at least take out the word "his" in the 1st sentence. DaveNRG (talk) 03:10, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved; while the !VOTES are evenly split, the supports' policy-and-guidelines-based reasons tip the balance. -- JHunterJ (talk) 14:08, 30 May 2019 (UTC)
– The basketball figure is the clear primary topic of the name “Mark Jackson”. He has about 90% of the total page views out of all of the “Mark Jackson” articles combined. Mrbeastmodeallday (talk) 06:28, 15 May 2019 (UTC)--Relisting. Cúchullain t/c 13:22, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose - This is too common a name and this player isn’t a household name for non-basketball fans. Page views alone is not a compelling reason to make this decision in my opinion. Rikster2 (talk) 11:11, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nom, I make it about 85% of pageviews (over the past four years) but it's also telling that the dab page comes in second. Let's help readers rather than hinder them. PC78 (talk) 11:27, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
- Support. With the vast amount of pageviews and lack of recentism here, this looks like a good contender for WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Nohomersryan (talk) 00:47, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per Rikster2. This is indeed a very common name and in order to attain WP:PRIMARYTOPIC status among the 13 entries listed at the Mark Jackson disambiguation page, convincing arguments would need to demonstrate that subject's standing throughout the English-speaking world approaches that of a top-tier celebrity. This sports figure does not reach such level. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 02:53, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- Support per PC78. Easily passes the usage criterion at WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, and "approaching a top-tier celebrity" is not a factor. Dohn joe (talk) 16:52, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose Fails "long-term significance" criteria of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC.—Bagumba (talk) 09:12, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
- Support...Very obvious primary topic. --Quiz shows 21:57, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose. Mark who? Certainly not the overwhelmingly most notable person with this name. Remember, most of us in the world do not follow (or indeed, have any interest in whatsoever) American basketball. Some sportspeople are household names even for those who do not follow the sport; he is not one of them. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:01, 22 May 2019 (UTC)
