Whilst Marovo lagoon is unique in many ways, I doubt that it is the largest lagoon in the world. New Caledonia's main island lagoon is probably a lot larger. It would be useful to see a table of marine lagoon areas around the world some day. --Timonroad 09:51, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it should have been qualified. It is the largest island-bound lagoon, i.e., not bound by reef, and not an atoll. Ptilinopus (talk) 21:41, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
