I think the wrong monseigneur is describe in this article, somebody may want to check it again

Yes, both Gaspar and the Marquis are called Monseigneur in this article, and I think the title only refers to St. Evremonde. 74.115.160.148 (talk) 13:30, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, maybe there are two Monseigneurs, one in town and one leaving it. Could someone more familiar with the book clarify? 74.115.160.148 (talk) 13:33, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I tried to clear up the confusion between "Monseigneur" and "Marquis." They are actually the same person, though called differently by different people, depending on their rank. So, for example, if a lowly road mender was to talk to the Marquis, he would call him "Monseigneur." But if it was Darnay talking to the Marquis, he would call him the "Marquis" as he is familiar and a relation to him. Hope I kinda cleared up some confusion. --Shayna — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.16.99.208 (talk) 21:47, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
