Untitled[edit]

In my opinion, the statement:

An unusual image appears on a window of the church at the prison. The effect is caused by the uneven surface of the glass, and seems to show a woman's face facing left. The phenomenon is discussed on night tours of the prison as the face of Martha.

is completely dubious. This claim belongs to the same class with the claims of seeing Saint Maria on a piece of toast. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pi-xi (talkcontribs) 03:22, 8 April 2007 (Australian time?).

  • It is however pointed out on a daily basis, if you visit the prison, its not dubious, as you can see in the picture it exits, it is obviously a coincidence. But a well known and notable one. Ghostieguide 23:07, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"de facto husband"[edit]

Could sombody explain what is meant by this phrase, because I really have no clue... FerralMoonrender (MyTalkMyContribsEmailMe) 00:14, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

see de facto....A domestic partner outside marriage is referred to as a de facto husband or wife by some authorities. In Australia and New Zealand defacto has become a term for one's domestic partner. It is a legally recognised relationship of a couple living together in Australian law, e.g. "This is my defacto, Rachel". This is equivalent to the term common-law husband or wife used in most other English-speaking countries.
Countries sometimes receive de facto (informal) recognition from other countries which may lead to de jure (formal) recognition. Ghostieguide 10:35, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the clarification (I know what de facto means, I just wasn't sure how to apply it to husband.) FerralMoonrender (MyTalkMyContribsEmailMe) 04:47, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see it?[edit]

I looked at the glass and I don't see the face in the glass...122.104.225.84 03:27, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, me neither, and I'm good at finding pictures in random shapes. Gemfyre (talk) 07:54, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Hi, I've added links to the Trove pages for the Daily News article from 5th October, 1909, and The West Australian article from 30th September, 1909. Both articles have a misspelling of Rendell's name as "Rendall". As they are links, I've removed them to "External Links". If this isn't suitable, am happy for them to be reverted to their original position under "References". GnomeMoP (talk) 02:39, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
