Statement on 2006 loss[edit]

Does anyone know what basis MHS puts on his statement that 2006 was the lowest Liberal result since World War 2? Looking at Question 19 on http://www.seo.sa.gov.au/apps/uploadedFiles/news/276/SEO_QA06_13feb06.pdf the closest the Libs came is in 1938 where based on a 39 seat assembly, the Libs won 15 seats (with 12 ind and 1 single tax league mind you)? Or is he talking about the 33% primary vote where Labor got 26%? I'd like to know which election MHS may be referring to and on what basis the claim is made... Free image[edit]

I have an event with Mr Hamilton-Smith today, so I'll try and take a freely-licensed photo. It might be a bit difficult, but here's hoping :)--cj | talk 00:55, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No such luck, unfortunately. Maybe another time...--cj | talk 15:40, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone in his area want to call him and ask for a photo op? :P Timeshift (talk) 00:39, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Survey of Martin Hamilton-Smith’s electorate reveals huge opposition to his defecting to Labor government"[edit]

That's the headline for this article. Tell me, how can one reconcile that headline with the poll results showing for "should there be a by-election in Waite", 41% say yes, 43% say no, and "do you feel betrayed by his decision", 42% say yes and 46% say no..........? Am I just dumb? Timeshift (talk) 04:04, 30 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war - speculation[edit]

"It had been suggested that the abstained MP is either the man that Hamilton-Smith had ousted, Iain Evans or former frontbencher Mitch Williams but both refused to comment on this suggestion"[1] - this is speculation. Just because it's in The Australian it doesn't change the fact it is speculation. I don't want to get in to an edit war so other editors' input is welcome. Yes, agreed. Possibly, if it was covered in multiple sources (including, hopefully, at least one non-newspaper source), it might be worth including from a historical perspective. Frickeg (talk) 03:16, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I want to thank MHS.[edit]

He is the first fed/state independent crossbencher i'm aware of to see the value of getting his image on to wikipedia. Timeshift (talk) 12:23, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

FYI - MHS has launched his new website[edit]
