Maruvat
[edit]Hi. As per my knowledge Maru means sandy desert and vat means wind . So this should translate to Windy Desert and not Land of death.
Sanskrit scholars please comment.--Darrendeng 06:50, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Meaning of Marwar
[edit]In Rajasthani dialect "wad" means a particuler area or the region. The word Marwar is derived from Sanskrit word 'Maruwat'. English translation of the word is 'The region of death'. (See -James Todd, Annal and Antiquities of Rajasthan, ed. Wlliam Crooke, Routledge and Kagan Paul Ltd., London, p. 234). Dr DK Taknet, a famous author from Rajasthan, writes the meaning of Marwar. He writes that most of scholars agree that Marwar is the degenerated form of Sanskrit word 'Maruwat' (See - Dr DK Taknet: Marwari Samaj aur Brij Mohan Birla, Indian Institute of Marwari Entrepreneurship, Jaipur, 1993, p. 20). Accordingly I add to the meaning. burdak 16:41, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Copyvios
[edit]I am pretty sure that the content sourced to Chaudhary's work in Singh's book is all a straight copy/paste from it. Can anyone confirm? - Sitush (talk) 22:02, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
