I'm disappointed to not be able to find much more about this remarkable woman other than the long trail of books (nearly 100) she left behind. Apparently she was also the author of the instruction manuals for Singer sewing machines? cde 07:31, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I hope somebody know more. Haabet 08:35, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have need of a list of she books.
Yes, Singer Books:

  • Short Cuts to Home Sewing, The Modern Singer Way 1929
  • Singer Sewing Book 1949, 1954, 1957
  • How to Make Draperies the Modern Singer Way 1929.
  • Short Cuts to Home Sewing 1923

I removed the "linkless" tag added in November 2006. I have added: reference to her advisory work on the "Army Green Uniform", links to digitized versions of her pamphlets, and a bit more biographical data (there isn't much out there!). Also made all the internal references to the Fashion Dictionary link through to this article. I have a photo from the dust jacket of the 1957 edition of the Fashion Dictionary but it's in pretty bad shape. I will scan it and see if it can be made usable. - PKM 20:20, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another name?

[edit]

This woman claims on her webpage to be a relative: http://www.sjgreenerquilt.com/Bio.htm She gives Picken's name as Mary Brooks Picken Sumner. Anyone have details, did she marry late in life? Crypticfirefly 05:40, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found this info in Googles news Archives Mary was married to G. Lynn Sumner of the G. Lynn Sumner Advertisment Agency in New York. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Isayhello2u (talkcontribs) 07:14, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
