[1] shows the configuration before North Avenue crossed Jones Falls. [2] strangely shows no road at all in that area on the first two maps; the others show it going under North Avenue and ending at Maryland Avenue. --NE2 19:43, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[3] (the obvious one and below) shows the plan for the turnpike/railroad overlap. Also note [4], which seems to show Falls Road under North Avenue in 1879. --NE2 01:40, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By 1946, MD 25 extended to its present north end: [10] A 1950 topo shows a strange alignment at the south end, turning north on Maryland Avenue and ending at North Avenue: [11] This could easily be an error, given the status of routes in Baltimore. --NE2 12:15, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Laws relating to the road

  • 1804/111: incorporating the company
  • 1805/48: allowed to build branch to old-town; toll gate must be at least 1 mi from Baltimore (also see [12][13])
  • 1805/105: realigned
  • 1808/69: time extended
  • 1808/94: public road extending north (also see [14]) [Black Rock Mills is near Stringtown Road; where's Kerlinger's Mill? From circumstancial evidence it was probably on Gunpowder Falls in what's now Carroll County, so probably at Schalk Road No. 1 and Kern Road.]
  • 1810/105: public road extending north to Pennsylvania - but probably not from the 1808 end
  • 1812/152: completed and confirmed
  • 1816/115: allowed to extend north to George Kerlinger's mill (also see [15][16][17][18][19][20])
  • 1822/155: allowed to realign part of the road
  • 1827/178: allowed to build a railroad; allowed to give road north of Brooklandville to the county
  • 1844/171: toll gate must be at least 1 mi from present limits of Baltimore
  • 1844/249: repeals 1844/171
  • 1908: guard to be stationed at Northern Central Railway crossing

[21] implies that the Falls Turnpike did build the branch to the York Turnpike.

[22] talks about North Avenue.

[23] apparently extends from its north end.
