Romance Cove?

[edit]

A paragraph was recently added on the etymology of the word "Romancoke", claiming that it is derived from "Romance Cove". While it seems likely that such a merging of words would happen given the Maryland dialect, I've also heard that Romancoke is Algonquian for "land of circling waters". I think a source should be provided to verify, however, it should be noted that it is also somewhat likely that "Romance Cove" could have been a misinterpretation of "Romancoke". Also, the fact that William Claiborne named his estate in Virginia, "Romancoke" seems to support the Algonquian origin.-Jeff (talk) 02:01, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
