Southern Rhodesia

[edit]

The name "Zimbabwe" is not given to the place he was from until about 1979. He did all his work before then. We should categorize based on the name of a place when someone was active. Not retroactively apply a later name that did not apply to the place at the time.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:36, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That is an outright falsehood. As a historical term, it goes back centuries. As a contemporary term, it predates the illegal post-colonial state of Rhodesia. The fact That you would impose the the terminology of an illegal, racist, colonial state on someone who legitimately rejected its authority and chose to identify otherwise is grotesque and offensive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.149.176.61 (talk) 19:21, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
