Status of theory of Higgs field

I write as one who has interest in this topic, but not enough expertise to contribute to it. At what point should this article be updated to reflect developments at CERN related to the discovery of the Higgs particle? I know that confirmation and acceptance of new findings such as this take time to achieve, and am wondering at what stage we are as I write, it now being some 21 months after confirmation at CERN. Have alternate models for mass generation now been pretty fully discarded, or is ongoing work into the breaking of supersymmetry now creating a need for revisions in the Higgs model, yet to be resolved? I'd say the Higgs mechanism should be given more prominence, because it is the most mainstream, especially since those CERN results. --JorisvS (talk) 11:43, 14 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Standard Model description

I followed a link from the Higgs mechanism article to this page, so as to understand how, in the Standard Model, quarks gain a mass via the Higgs mechanism. Notably, this article doesn't really touch on this subject in regards to the Standard Model (or does so in passing), but mostly focuses on extended theories.
