References[edit]

To get an article through an AfD safely, you need to make sure that there are clear references for the key points. Simply having them in the external links section will not be enough. I will use criticism of this article as a wholesale indictment of the wikipedia revue system. This article was flagged for being unreferenced. I did add a few independent references, but as I analyze the article it is obviously heavily sub-referenced within wikipedia. Are you suggesting that an article needs to be additionally referenced to the same sources already cited in the sub-referencing articles? Too many articles are being deleted from wikipedia after a microscopic revue period by an even more microscopic group of people who understand the process. The only logic I can see to this rush to judgement would be to save storage space on the wikipedia server. By duplicating all the references already contained elsewhere, you are effectively wasting wikipedia server space in the same fashion. In other words, the information is out there, all you have to do is click to read and see where it came from. Do not discredit the face of an article with flags that misrepresent the information it contains. Another page referencing masters athletics[edit]

I think that most of the other article should be merged here, but a new article on "Masters sports competitions" or such should be created as an umbrella. Masters (athletics) mentions rowing and there are golf tournaments for older competitors.--Hjal 15:53, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Age Grade tables were updated again in 2010.[edit]

Age & Sport[edit]

The article currently states that masters is for ages 35+. However, for nordic skiing, masters are age 30+ and for swimming, masters are age 18+. Rhall28 (talk) 09:43, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Athletics in the terminology of this article is about Athletics (sport) as governed by World Masters Athletics as opposed to the other sports mentioned. Yes they might have different specifications and probably deserve an article about them (deservedly linked from here), but they are not part of this one. Misleading, masters is 40+ in most instances[edit]

Article suggest masters is 35+ and that includes road racing. For the vast majority of road races masters is 40+, most other sports there is 40 year age minimum as well. The 35+ standard is almost exclusively for track and field meets and should be stated as such. 74.193.68.206 (talk) 04:55, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
