General overview

[edit]
  • Disambiguation links: Not present.
  • References: All fine, but Checklinks denotes some Indeterminate-class articles.
  • Original research: Not present.
  • Lead section: Issue referenced below.

In depth

[edit]
  1. Lead:
  • Last paragraph: Maybe you should address Matangi's worldwide sales – i.e., if they were low, moderate, high.
  • Added that it peaked lower on the charts than her previous album. Comment already present that its first-week sales were lower. I can't find any info on specific sales figures in any market other than the US and UK -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 19:00, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Composition and recording:
  • It's unnecessary to write M.I.A.'s complete name here, maybe move it to 'Release and artwork' and put it in the sentence where the album title options appear.
  • Insert a reference to prove that Maya was met with mixed response commercially and critically.
  • Just my point of view, but I think it'd look better if in the sentence "She made a conscious decision..." you'd put 'ultimately' between 'She' and 'made'.
  • That image is awfully placed since it overlaps the following section, but anyway, keep it, it's not your fault.
  1. Music and lyrics
  • If you could find additional information about the tracks that are not addressed directly in the prose, it would be fantastic, but if you can't... well, it's fine this way.
  1. Promotion
  • It would be best if you placed the information in chronological order. Just move the last sentence of the section's first paragraph and place it last, oh, and 'stick' the first sentence of that paragraph with the first paragraph of "Promotion". If you understand me.
  1. Commercial performance
  • Insert comma in second sentence of first paragraph, to separate "The following week" from "the album".
  • You don't really address the commercial performance at a worldwide level, just like in the lead, and I think you should. Though, if you can't find the sufficient information to write about the rest of the charts and just not refer the positions, let me know and I'll ignore this one.

I'm going to put this on hold, for... basically, the time you need to address these issues, but there aren't a lot of them, so it'll be easy. Just don't exceed two weeks. By the way... ho ho ho, and a merry Christmas! Prism 17:34, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comments, my editing will be a bit hit and miss for the next few days but I will make a start on the points you raise by the weekend at the latest -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 17:56, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
