Greetings All - this article has many things to sort out - too many to go into right now. But to start with: a) the leader section needs to explain in simpler terms what goes on, and b) it needs serious reference work. --Technopat (talk) 10:50, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think reproduction in fungi would be a better article, having a broader scope. It's the same with plant and animal articles, though. Richard001 (talk) 04:45, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Greetings Richard001, Agreed. Mating does seem imply two individuals of the same species coming together for the express purpose of doing their stuff - with or without actual copulation - rather than mere allogamy or autogamy. But I'm out of my depth here and all I know is that given its importance, the article needs a major re-write to make it encyclopedic, i.e. useful (and factually correct). But before we do anything drastic, like moving it to "Reproduction in...", maybe we should a) tidy it up and b) get consensus. Feedback anyone? Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 09:10, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
