Matt Barnes is also currently the worst basketball player in the NBA (voted by local NBA social community). As a Lakers fan myself, even i can admit to the fact that he is an embarrassment and disadvantage to the club. He has proven this earlier on in his career with the club Orlando magic, when confronting a now fellow teammate Kobe Bryant. Barnes began early in the game by squaring up to Kobe Bryant and trying to impose a threat, and continued to display an aggravation throughout the game. During one moment in particular, Barnes mimicked to throw the basketball into Bryant face and then followed by launching the ball at the referee (YouTube) .

UCLA Basketball Career

[edit]

How about some information about his college career? He had a slow start to his career but came on strong as a all-around talent and hard-worker. Senior year picked up an outside shot average 13.5 ppg, 6.2 reb and 3.5 ast per game while knocking down 42% of his 3s and playing very solid defense.

Matt's high school days

[edit]

Matt came to Del Campo and was an instant hit as a freshman starting on the Varsity Basketball squad. Coach Don Lenz determined Matt was more than ready; Matt was averaging double figures in points and rebounds when he went down with an injury and missed the second half of the season.

As a sophomore Matt was exceeding established varsity players, helping Del Campo to win three preseason tournaments, and place second in league. His junior year may have been his best. Del Campo beat a highly ranked Grant to win the C.A.L. league title with Matt leading the way. The bigger the game the bigger he played. It's worth noting Matt AVERAGED 7 1/2 blocked shots a game that year, and double figures in points and rebounds. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zzjolt (talkcontribs) 01:33, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Matt Barnes Charity: Athletes vs Cancer

Matt Barnes started Athletes vs. Cancer in memory of his mother, Ann Barnes, who passed away twenty-six days after being diagnosed with several types of cancer. Ann's passing was abrupt and devastating to her friends and family. In 2008, Matt launched AVC to the world to get athletes more involved and join together to educate, bring awareness and motivate people to get regular cancer screenings. A voice is one of the most powerful tools we have; Matt and AVC want to use theirs to save lives.

Hometown

[edit]

This source from UCLA says he is from Citrus Heights, not Santa Clara. http://www.uclabruins.com/ViewArticle.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=30500&ATCLID=208185266 67.8.59.86 (talk) 21:58, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

He grew up in Citrus Heights, his hometown, but was born in Santa Clara, his birthplace. That UCLA link also says "Born March 9, 1980 in Santa Clara, CA".—Bagumba (talk) 22:21, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I can't edit references (not 'autoconfirmed'), but a quick Google search brought up this replacement: http://www.uclabruins.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=30500&ATCLID=208185266 SheepOG (talk) 15:43, 9 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

His NBA profile (http://www.nba.com/playerfile/matt_barnes/bio/) also contains a few bits of information about his high school career: "Averaged 30 points, 10 rebounds, six blocks, five steals and three assists as a senior at Del Campo High School in Sacramento, CA. • In addition to his outstanding basketball play, was an All-American wide receiver and led the nation with 28 touchdown catches during his senior year." Return to Golden State Warriors

[edit]

On February 29th, 2017 Kevin Durant injured his knee within the 1st 3 minutes in a matchup with the Washington Wizards. With Durant likely to be out until the playoffs, Golden State picked up Matt Barnes of waivers the next morning. Barnes was a key member of the "WE BELIEVE" WARRIORS squad in 2007. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.185.101.32 (talk) 17:25, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: Are you referring to "Career highlights and awards" in the infobox? A semi-pro championship is not publicized much for pro players, and is not notable enough to list there. It is fine for the prose. I've also removed it from Rodman's infobox.—Bagumba (talk) 02:32, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Matt Barnes

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Matt Barnes's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Reference":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 21:53, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
