Needs Major Cleanup[edit]

This page is a borderline stub, and needs a lot of cleanup. Appears to have been written awhile ago, with little regard for correct wikipedia standards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.216.120.164 (talk) 22:42, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Matthew Beard (English actor)Matthew Beard – Sole subject of a Wikipedia entry using that exact name form, thus enabling WP:NATURAL. The birth name of an American actor, active primarily during the 1930s, was also Matthew Beard, but the American never used "Matthew Beard" as a stage name and was known to the public as Stymie Beard. A hatnote atop the English actor's entry — For others with similar names, see Mat Beard (disambiguation) — would sort out any uncertainties. — Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 22:18, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose not the only Matthew Beard. Which rightly is a dab page. In ictu oculi (talk) 16:35, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Other than the imprecisely-titled main title header for Matthew Beard (American actor), which has been concurrently submitted for renaming to Stymie Beard, the English actor has indeed the sole Wikipedia header which is properly titled "Matthew Beard". No need for the parenthetical qualifier "(English actor)", or even "(actor)", and also no need for the dab page's main header to be titled "Matthew Beard" if the English actor is the only one using that form. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 02:03, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose the American actor has nearly as many views (6,793) as the English one (6,855) even if the American one also known as "Stymie Beard". Also Matt Beard gets 2,103[[1]]. When I Google Matthew Beard most results are for this one but that's probably because I'm in England however the 2nd result is Matt Beard. Crouch, Swale (talk) 11:10, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. In the event that this nomination's intent may be unclear, it should be emphasized that neither the English actor Matthew Beard nor the English football manager Matt Beard is being proposed as the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC of the Mat Beard disambiguation page. The world's oldest African-American who spelled his name "Mathew Beard" is likewise not being proposed for primary topic. Each of the five names at the Matt Beard dab page is unique (taking into account that while the American actor's birth name was "Matthew", he was known to the public under his stage name, "Stymie", not "Matthew") and therefore "(English actor)" or even "(actor)" is no more necessary than using "Matt Beard (football manager)" instead of simply "Matt Beard". —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 03:19, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
