new home[edit]

On August 1st, 2008, Matthew and Elisabeth Freud purchased Burford Priory, a historic house in the Cotswolds which belonged to Speaker Lenthall of the Long Parliament. Their stated intention is to use it as their family home with their six children. The current occupants, an Anglican order of Benedictine monks and nuns, were obliged to sell because they cannot afford to maintain the property at the level required by fire and safety regulations. They have yet find a new home, but have been given leave to remain until the end of November if necessary. Meanwhile, the new owners intend to move into the adjacent guest house (Old Rectory) which forms part of the property. Emortimer (talk) 21:16, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

Commenting out the notability tag was a bit bolder than I like to be -- despite WP:BOLD I usually prefer to discuss then edit. But there seemed to be no discussion forum yet, so this is how I'm making a record for it.

If you take Adam Curtis's documentary, Century of the Self as authoritative, Matthew Freud is one of the more important people in the history of modern British society and, given the cross-pollination between our two countries in matters of culture, probably quite notable in US terms. The documentary is on-line [[1]].

But WP:N is not determined by Adam Curtis. The given references are oblique mentions rather than about the subject himself. As such it is not quite of the "Significant coverage - means that sources address the subject directly in detail" and "Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention" required. Significant coverage of this person is relatively easy to find: for example, these two articles [2] [3] (which are from ten years apart, demonstrating enduring notability). Worth[edit]

This information is from 2020. It's my first time on this page and it just struck me that even by today's standards (or 2020's) 170 million is quite a lot. How do you make that from PR? I'd really like to know. Escaper27 (talk) 17:24, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
