Removed Born Matthew Allard Robert Vaughn at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington., since this is clearly contradicted by the first sentence which says he was born in Beverly Hills. Possibly this was actually referring to his son and has got confused along the line. — sjorford++ 13:29, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But where was he born?

[edit]

Hello, I read on Imdb that he was born in London, and the article gives 2 different places (London and Beverly hills) so definitively, what's the truth? Bouktin 15:28, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is known for being unreliable! Probs, London eurgh Beverly Hills. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.104.51.181 (talk) 18:01, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The mystery of how he become a film producer?

[edit]

One minute he was a university drop-out, then he's a film producer. How did he make the transition without going to film school, despite somehow previously getting a "job" (green card or not?) being the assistant to a director? And was his role initially merely that of putting up some of the money, like Dodi El-fiad (sp?)? Knowing would help dispell the celebrity myth - that celebs (as depicted in the tabloids) are omnipotent and have never studied or worked to obtain their role. 80.0.106.88 (talk) 18:29, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

His father Robert Vaughn might have meant he had a US passport and might have helped him get his foot in the door. Working as an assistant on a film could mean a lot of different things, and it isn't implausible that he started from the bottom and worked his way up and learned lots in Hollywood. On his return it is possible was lucky or well connected or both, but either way the success of Lock Stock was enough to establish him.
I just thought it was interesting that he was color blind and was checking to see if anyone had mentioned it. -- 109.76.158.242 (talk) 01:44, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
His godfather Peter Morton was a co-founder of the Hard Rock Café, and helped get his films funded: "Another stone unturned". Los Angeles Times. 12 November 2006. It's also a film that makes Morton officially a big-time producer as opposed to a multimillionaire helping his godson out
So he had opportunities that others might never have had, and it seems to have helped start his career but nonetheless he still had to go and make the films. (This might be worth adding as background to the start of his career.) -- 109.79.172.81 (talk) 07:15, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Correct name

[edit]

If Matthew was born to the unmarried Miss Ceaton, Ceaton should have been his surname at birth, not Vaughn. The article implies that the actor requested the name be changed to Vaughn subsequently. And of course there is no legal basis for him now to assume the name of de Vere Drummond, even if he is Drummond's son.Royalcourtier (talk) 03:23, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
