The name of this article is a strange mix between the Hebrew pronunciation of matzah and the Yiddish word brei. I've never heard anyone pronounce it that way. The common pronunciation is entirely Yiddish: either matzo brei or matze brei. DrorK (talk) 06:22, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gebrochts

[edit]

The last bit about gebrochts is not technically correct. There are non-gebrochts recipes for matzo brei that are made without water or milk. (Eggs are not considered gebrochts.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.124.116.101 (talk) 02:58, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good point, thanks. I've edited the article accordingly. Yoninah (talk) 14:47, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tenuous citation concerning recipe’s origin

[edit]

This article cites an author that claims a North American origin to the Matzah Brei recipe. This recipe has been ancestral for generations of Eastern European Jews. It would be of interest to find a better source that can attest to this fact. 5.184.83.223 (talk) 07:56, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
