Notability

[edit]

T. Anthony, what makes Burge notable? I'm asking here because you appear to be a seasoned editor, so I'm surprised to see something to thinly sourced. I suggest than an entry in Una Platts' book isn't enough to establish notability. What have I overlooked? Schwede66 22:11, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I created this in relation to Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Meetup/56 as she was on Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by nationality/New Zealand. It actually has four sources and she has co-billing in a deal from Hawkes Bay Art Gallery and Museum. The sources in Google are a bit slim, but Google isn't necessarily a very accurate barometer on the notability of people who died before 1960. The image search does seem to get many paintings by her including three on the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa site. I'll grant Kate Sperrey's article is better done, artist from the same project, than what I did and that Ms Burge's Welsh article is less than a year old.--T. Well, if Te Papa has some of her paintings I shall relax. I agree that the WWW isn't the best source for people who died in 1957. If I were you, I'd hunt around in a library next time you visit one. Schwede66 06:02, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Place of birth

[edit]

The infobox names Upper Hutt, but Lower Hutt is given in the biography section (and in the unknown parameter "born" in the infobox). There appears to be no mention of either in any of the existing sources. Some sources, e.g Nineteenth Century New Zealand Artists: A Guide & Handbook (ref 4) have Wellington, but it is unclear if this refers to the city or the region (which includes Lower and Upper Hutt).
