Cause of Death

It would be helpful if someone could find out whether the gas poisoning that caused her death was accidental or suicide. (The US Time magazine commonly spoke of 'self-inflicted gunshot wounds' for people who had shot themselves.) It was a hazard in days when gas as a fuel was in commonplace use. (BTW my father was apprenticed in the gas supply industry during the late 1940s and once got overcome, but was revived, when he went with a mate to deal with a broken underground gas pipe.)Cloptonson (talk) 06:36, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Her estate (section Death)

I have rather a pinch of salt about the figure of the size of her estate which reads as £35,482. 978 (pronounced as thirty-five million, four-hundred-and-eighty-two thousand, nine-hundred-and-seventy-eight pounds) as the cited source does not show the printed details of the entry and such an apparent millionaire figure would have been an enormous sum to leave in 1940s England. I am wondering if the "978" is a typo for "9/8" (which reads as nine shillings and eight pence in Sterling currency) at a time when, pre-decimalisation, the shillings and pence were quoted at the end of the published figures.Cloptonson (talk) 17:47, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
