Spelling of name[edit]

Italicizing of 'Max' within the name Maximillian - is this strictly wiki-correct? And are you sure that he spelt his name with the double-L? Valetude (talk) 15:44, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sacking of Prittwitz[edit]

At the outbreak of World War I, Hoffmann was the deputy chief of staff of the German Eighth Army under Prittwitz, soon to be replaced by Hindenburg, with Ludendorff as his Chief of Staff. Who was the earlier (sacked) Chief of Staff, Hoffmann's immediate boss, and why did Hoffmann not pass-on his important knowledge of the vulnerable state of the Russian armies, which largely swung the battles of Tannenberg and the Masurian Lakes?
