[edit]This article should not be redirected to Alex Sanders. Besides the fact that she was an important figure on her own, she and Alex legally separated later in life. --Aremisasling
Semi-protection: High level of unnecessary IP editing and edit warring. Ruanxen (talk) 11:00, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
- There is no recent unnecessary IP editing or IP warring going on here. I'm not sure what you think the problem is? Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 12:10, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
- The request for page protection was declined but there are good eyes on the page and I'm sure if there were any disruption it would be quickly detected and reverted. Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 15:31, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
Recent additions to this article are questionable. Ruanxen (talk) 19:31, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- You will need to add references and citations to those additions that you find 'questionable' -- Xxglennxx (talk • cont.) 23:31, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
Improving the article
[edit]Thanks for the addition of this reference[1], Ruanxen. I have some reservations about the actual content of the paragraph still, because it reads more like material from a personal blog or website (which indeed the reference is) and not like an extract from an encyclopaedia. Indeed the whole article is very thin and doesn't do her justice. Compare the article on Leo Martello for example, who really can't be described as influential as Maxine - it's much more complete and well referenced and written with an encyclopaedic tone. I'm borrowing some mateial at the weekend which I'm going to try and use to flesh things out. I already have several of the books by Janet and Stewart Farrar and I'm getting hold of Maxine The Witch Queen, Firechild, The ecstatic Mother, and King of the Witches so I hope to be able to bring something together out of those. Decent, reliable secondary sources are going to be problematic of course.... Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 13:17, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
== Sources and edits ==
Currently the sources stand as these: 1. http://maxinesanders.co.uk 2. Firechild, by Maxine 3 and 4. An apparent death certificate of records. 5. http://maxinesanders.co.uk
All of these sources have been written, directly or indirectly, by Maxing herself, making them WP:NPOV; I could public a blog and write that I am god, but it doesn't make it true! The sentences that the above sources are attached to need to be changed (the sources) if they are to stay on wikipedia.
- I have added 'citation needed' to a number of claims which needs sources not directly influenced by Maxine. This is for WP:NPOV.
- Only Alex is attributed as the author of 'A Witch is Born'.
- I have deleted statements that sounds like fan-dom text (re: "despite assumptions.....", returning to her cottage yearly etc). -- Xxglennxx (talk • cont.) 23:38, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
- Hello all, I have added some references in preparation for expanding the article and I'm going to suggest that we use the shortened footnote style described at WP:SRF as most of these will be used multiple times. Does that seem ok? More to be added tomorrow! Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 19:43, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- OK, I've made a start and added some material, with sources, for the period 1964-72. That does leave the rest of the article looking a bit ragged but I'll add to that as well later this week. I don't have all my sources to hand yet so hopefully I can improve the 64-72 section as well once I have them. I hope to have finished a first revision of the article by the weekend by which time I hope it will look more complete. So please regard what is here as a bit of a work in progress!
