I think "August" in this line is incorrect, because, according to the article, the team make ready to depart in july and reach a port later in july: Ergo the ice 'allowed them to begin steaming out' in july (and not in august has written), no? But perhaps there is a different error, such as one of the other months, I don't know the history involved. "Preparations for departure were made in July, and a cairn containing detailed records of their efforts was constructed. On 9 August the ice allowed them to begin steaming out, and despite the loss of their two engineers and dangerous ice, open seas were soon reached. Melville Island?

There is a picture in this article that should probably not be there: Neither the Franklin, nor the McClintock expedition ever went to Melville island.
