Breed?
What breed is McGruff? I personally think he represents a Basset Hound, although his face is more like a Bloodhound. Is there an answer or common consensus? --67.3.213.207 13:08, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
I don't get it
Why "Shure-lock Bones" instead of "Sherlock Bones"? The pun on "lock" and "bones" is still the same. Why "shure"?

Bat-Hound?
I am removing the following:

Without the citation, this is completely spurious. Widely believed by whom? Plus, there is virtually no resemblance between McGruff and Ace the Bat-Hound, so I don't even see how the claim is credible on its face. Scruff is McGruff's nephew
This article claims that Scruff McGruff is the crime dog's full name. This is not true. Scruff is the name of his nephew, who is often shown in McGruff comics wearing a red and white baseball cap, and a white shirt with the slogan "Take a Bite out of Crime". 68.33.185.238 02:37, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
