[edit]So which is it, "McKinley Memorial Mausoleum" or "McKinley National Memorial"? I created a redirect at McKinley National Memorial, but perhaps this should actually be moved there instead. The article text consistently refers to it as the National Memorial and not the Memorial Mausoleum. As does the McKinley Museum's website. Blukens 15:33, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
I was born and raised and continue to live here in Canton and it most certainly has never been referred to as a Mausoleum. Here, it's called "McKinley's Monument", but the Stark County Historical Society, as well as the Ohio Historical Society refer to it as the "McKinley National Memorial". That's it's official title. For proof, see the new photo I included in the text. In the photo, you can see the Ohio Historical Marker call it the National Memorial. I think we can drop this "Mausoleum" business. --Kc8wvj 17:56, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that was my understanding as well. Someone else created the page under the "mausoleum" title, and I thought maybe they knew something I didn't. Moved. --Blukens 03:53, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Interesting use of "National"
[edit]Not sure on all of the rules, but while the monument seems to have the title National, even though it is not under federal control. Best I was able to find is that they have given grants to the local organization to maintain it. Thought I would mention this. If anyone is looking for information from the National Park Service or any other Federal Agency. On a personal note, I think every presidential memorials/grave sites should be under federal control. There are 13 presidential libraries that are under the oversight of the National Archives, though many are still privately managed or owned.
