Allophone controversy[edit]

I have found no source claiming minimal pairs or near minimal pairs in Media Lengua that contrast [s] from [z]. [z] appears in the following condition [s] --> [+voice]/[+sonorant]___. If you have a source stating otherwise please cite. [ɣ] appears in most environments in both Quichua (chagra "plot of land") and Spanish (trago "alcohol") derived words except word initially and after [n]. [g] only appears as an allophonic variation of [k] when the Quichua voicing rule is conserved (see main article). Yachaykuna (talk) 18:51, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article is much better now! I'm impressed. Thank you Yachaykuna! To be honest, back in 2006, I intended to work on this article further, found some sources on the web, including one on Imbabura Quechua, but then I couldn't find it again and my motivation was suddenly completely gone. Variety of Kichwa?[edit]

I put some lang tags. However I don't know what variety of Kichwa are the sample text in. There are 12 ISO 639-3 codes for Kichwa varieties. Which one should be used here. For now, I used a generic qu-EC. Error (talk) 19:28, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
